Nvidia has officially launched its GTX 1630. Even lower than the GTX 1650, this graphics card features a Turing TU117-150 graphics processor with 512 CUDA cores. With the lack being apparent, this card, on the other hand, is almost the same. It is very similar as it packs in the same architecture, similar TDP, and even uses the same PCB and cooling designs. Although it is shocking to see Nvidia’s graphics card being this dull in its features, let’s have our eyes on what the company has to offer in this too.
All the lacks are already being there; another addition to those lacks is the reduction of the memory bus. Nvidia has reportedly reduced the memory bus to only a 64-bit bus. Due to the decrease in the memory bus, other features are also affected. A similar result is seen in the bandwidth; the maximum theoretical bandwidth has been halved from 192GB/s to 96 GB/s. With it falling so much that it is split, it has fallen even below the GTX 1050 Ti based on the Pascal GP107 GPU and was released way back in 2016.
As everything is facing a downgrade, it is customary to expect a drop in performance too. As it is now apparent, the bandwidth has a significant effect. The bandwidth for the low-end GPUs substantially impacts performance, especially when you are keeping up at higher resolutions. Therefore, it isn’t brilliant and righteous to look out for this card for using it in one’s gaming PC in the modern era of 2022. Still, Nvidia thinks it is a good gain, although it doesn’t seem like it; let’s see what the company is holding in it for us. If we look at all the information gathered, the GTX 1630 is also expected to be slower than the GTX 1050 Ti GPU. Remember that the GTX 1050 Ti GPU is actually on the old-gen graphics card.
Coming to the price, based on the features it packs, its price will eventually be low and probably lower than other old-gen graphics cards. According to the estimate, its retail price will fall around 1000-1100 RMB in China, which makes about 150 USD with VAT. The manufacturer will update the pricing information as NVIDIA will announce the official MSRP for different regions. For now, there is only some surprising series of events as Nvidia will be launching a graphics card with so many lackings.
